The business world is changing. It’s not just about profits anymore. Companies are now valued for their impact on society and the environment. This is where B Corps shine.

What Are B Corps?

B Corps are a new kind of business. They balance purpose and profit. They care for workers, customers, and the planet. B Labs checks if they’re doing it right.

Big News for B Corps

B Lab has news. As of October 6, 2023, they paused new B Corps in some places. You can see which ones online. They want to grow right. They’re figuring out the best way to help.

Why B Corp Matters

A B Corp stamp means a lot. It says a company is really doing good. For workers, giving, and the environment. It’s not easy to get. But it’s worth it.

How to Be a B Corp

To be a B Corp, you must:

  • Score 80 or more on the B Impact Assessment.
  • Make a promise to be good to everyone, not just owners.
  • Share how you do on B Lab’s website.

B Corps have to check in every three years. They always try to get better.

B Corp Is Different

B Corp looks at everything. Not just one good thing a company does. Getting the stamp is tough. It needs work from all parts of the company.

Risk and Standards

B Lab checks risks. They use experts’ advice. Every company is different. The risks are too.

Your B Corp Journey

Where you start depends. On your size and what you do. B Lab has guides. They help companies on their way.

For tiny companies, there’s a first step. It’s called Pending B Corp. It helps them get ready.

Small companies use the Small Enterprise Guide. It helps them learn how to get certified.

Bigger companies have their own guides. For big, medium, and very big companies.

If you’re really big, you’ll also join the B Movement Builders. All parts of your company will do the same.

If your company is part of a bigger one, or has parts of its own, there’s info for that too.

Steps to Certification

To start:

  • Sign up for the B Impact Assessment.
  • Use the tool to see what you need to change in your company’s rules.
  • Take the risk review. Big companies have extra steps.
  • Gather your info and get ready to answer questions.
  • Take the Assessment. Save and come back if you need.
  • Make a profile. Then fill out the Disclosure Questionnaire.
  • If your score is high enough, send it in for review.

Then wait. B Lab will check everything. They’ll talk to you and ask for proof.

If everything is good, you sign the B Corp Agreement.

Now you’re a B Corp! You put your score online for everyone to see.

Celebrate! Tell your workers, partners, and the world.

But keep working. You’ll check in again in three years. Or if big changes happen.

Staying a B Corp

To stay a B Corp, keep updating your score. And keep proving it. Every three years, or if your company changes a lot.

Why This Matters

We believe in a better way to do business. B Corps are leading this. They are for-profit but also for good. For everyone. For the future.

To be part of this, you must act right. Remember, we’re all connected. What we do matters. For everyone and tomorrow.
